90.9 The Claw (Rrrawww!) Radio Call

Ah what to do when slacking in writting a good Project52 post? I know! Release another mix from the late 90's. This time around is a Radio Call (or whatever you call it) I did for a friend when he was DJing at the Alamosa college station 90.9 The Claw. It was pretty awesome to get some radio play, thanks DJ Dumbass.

Gettin' busy with jQuery

jQuery Book I won in the raffle
Rocking jQuery book I won in the raffle!

Tonight I attended the first Denver Meetup for jQuery enthusiast. It was a great oppourtunity to meet others who are interested in jQuery and discuss a wide range ideas and solutions. There was no surprise that there was a number of Drupal'ers in the crowd, including myself, considering the amount of jQuery is used in Drupal itself.

Great take aways of the meeting are:

  1. jQuery is used on 25% of the websites on the internet
  2. Its growing fast, and has become much larger than YUI or Mootools
  3. When developing an enterprise site host the jquery.js file locally, else consider using their CDN hosted file which I belive is "http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4/jquery.min.js" more info on this.
  4. ThemeRoller is badass and I will be checking into it further
  5. Builtwith.com is a great site to see what other sites are built on
  6. Performance: jQuery is faster at selecting #IDs then .classes

Perspiration Is Where It's At!

It's hard to be real, but it's true, perspiration is where it's at. Things just don't matter unless they are made to exist. This is something that has been on my mind for a while and I need to share this ideal as a hard critique towards myself. It's so easy to sit back and dream a pile of what-ifs but they are nothing until you breathe life into your ideas and vision.

I wish I could attach a bunch of inspiring quotes and photographs to back me up, but why don't you prove it to me and go out there and make something today! Just like a good friend just told me over Instant Messaging minutes ago - "just keep pushing art out there". Stop reading and start making.

My Blogging Big-Bang
